Students Begin Selecting Courses for the Upcoming School Year by Isabella Zervigon

Planning for the year ahead is what makes the start of an exciting adventure for the future. Whether students like theatre, music, or have ambition for AP and IB classes, all students have gone through the hard decisions of choosing classes. For sophomore Ava Lecompte, acting is so enjoyable and she simply cannot wait for another year in drama, “I am most excited for theatre because I really enjoy it,” Lecompte said. Indeed, stepping into another character on stage is what makes acting so interesting.

Moreover, sophomore Lauren Deacon looked ahead to plan her junior being in the IB program, “I chose to do the IB diploma program because it has better benefits than career and a better chance of getting scholarships and into college," Deacon said. Within the most rigorous courses are some classes that students are excited to have with the teachers that make the class a blast, “I am most excited for psychology because Mr. Woodbury is a really good teacher and learning about the brain is interesting to me," said Deacon. Classes at the most advanced level may be intense, but it is always fun to have an interest in a topic and have a great teacher.

Even though some may not want to go the IB route, students could find that IB classes are interesting and decide to continue. This is especially true sophomore Kaya Watson, “I have decided to continue Spanish and take the IB test as well as start learning German at Eastern because I love learning new languages in general," Watson said. Becoming fluent in more than one language helps connect students with people around the world and bringing down barriers of languages would definitely help one during their travels. Along with furthering her knowledge in Spanish, Watson is excited for Astronomy class, “I’m also starting science research, and before I was really adamant that I didn’t want to do the class, but my Astronomy teacher, Mr. Stauffer convinced me to join and now I’m actually looking forward to it," said Watson
