Crunch Time: How Students Are Prepping for the End of the School Year by Lucie Frank

As the school year winds down, students are shifting their focus toward wrapping up their academic responsibilities and preparing for a well-earned summer break. While there’s excitement in the air, this final stretch can be intense, filled with exams, projects, and last-minute assignments. Across campus, students are finding different ways to finish strong, both academically and personally.

One major focus for many students is preparing for final exams and EOCs. It’s crunch time, and studying has become a top priority. “How I am prepping for the end of the school year is making sure I turn all my work in and studying for the final exams,” said Nathan Sullivan, a junior who’s been focusing heavily on math. “The class I study the hardest for is math, and what I do to study is doing extra homework and making sure I fully understand what I’m working on in math.”

Others are approaching their prep by improving their overall study habits. “I’m studying hard and trying to better my work ethic,” said sophomore Harper Rice, who’s getting ready for her Geometry EOC. “I study by reviewing multiple sources I am given in class. I would say I probably have to study the most for my geometry EOC.” Many students are using tools like flashcards, group study sessions, and online review guides to stay sharp in the final weeks.

But the end of the year isn’t just about academics, it’s also a time when mental and emotional wellness becomes especially important. With pressure rising, students are taking steps to manage stress and avoid burnout. Some turn to journaling or music for relaxation, while others think about how they will spend their summer break. Sophomore Lily Frey says, "I’ve started preparing for the end of the year by studying and making plans for the summer.”

Outside the classroom, students are wrapping up their extracurricular commitments as well. Clubs are holding final meetings, sports teams are finishing their seasons, and there’s a sense of reflection and celebration in the air—especially among seniors. From graduation prep to yearbook signings, seniors are closing this chapter with pride and nostalgia. Senior Regan Faherty said,” I am prepping for the end of the school year by studying for AP exams and helping hand out cords for National Honor Society. I am also preparing for college by submitting all of the paperwork and other things needed to attend the university. In preparation for graduation, I am buying a dress and getting my senior pictures taken.”

No matter how students are spending these final weeks, one thing is clear: they’re pushing through with determination. Through hard work, better study habits, and a little self-care, they’re making sure to finish the school year on a high note, and looking ahead to the future with confidence.
