As the Year Ends, Students Reflect on Advice to Future Students by Kinley Cardinal

Throughout this school year, students have been given advice that will stick with them forever.

FRESHMAN-

Isabella Cantres is a hard working freshman at Melbourne High School. She has been given a lot of advice throughout the school year but the best piece of advice she has been given this school year is from her friend Corina Sullivan. Cantres was told by Sullivan, “Doing better can make you do better.” Cantres believes this advice helps her with her school work and making it through the school days and it helps her do better in school.

SOPHOMORE-

Along with freshman Isabella Cantres, the sophomores work equally as hard at school. Sophomore Layna Ayala has been given an immense amount of advice throughout the school year but the best piece she has been given is from her mother. Ayala's mother told her “you do you” this is important to her “because I will sometimes worry about people and how they are feeling all the time but this is a reminder to put myself first so that I can help other people,” this has helped her so much throughout high school and she will continue to listen to this advice. Helping her become a better person and push herself to be a better person.

JUNIORS-

Along with these hardworking freshman and sophomores there is junior Rylie-Lynn Cummings who works hard everyday to balance school and sports. The best piece of advice she has been given this school year is from her mother “Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past.” This helps her know that she should not live in the past and focus on what’s to come. Throughout her life she learned that things may not go the way you planned. She states that it is the best thing she has learned in life because her life never went the exact way she wanted it to and that was okay for her because she knows it will all turn out well in the end. Along with Cummings is another hard working junior Laney Buchanan. Buchanan states that the best piece of advice she has been given this year is to “prioritize myself and self care,” she was given this advice by one of her school teachers, This advice is important to her because it gives her the time to reflect on herself weather it is sports, writing, or even just taking a nap. This school year Buchanan has learned to balance her sports, school, hobbies, work, relationships and her social life. It was a struggle for Buchanan but she finally got the hang of it. This was the best thing she learned this year because it helps her for her future when she can go to college full time so she can balance everything. This has also helped her better practice and prepare herself for her future.

SENIOR-

Lastly, Senior Sarah Gobel, she has been given so much advice throughout her four years at Melbourne High, but the best piece of advice she has been given is “it is not a bad thing to take a day off sometimes, take a day off from work or school and destress your mind.” She learned this from her school to work teacher. Along with this advice, the best and most important thing she has learned this year is to focus on her work and to not procrastinate, “seniorities is real.” She says this is the best advice she has learned because it is so easy to get behind and have to learn it all the hard way.

All of these students have been given advice and learned lessons that have changed their lives forever.
