Mrs. LaMango's Senior Classes Create Senior Portfolios by Paige Vaughn
Mrs. LaMango’s classes made a senior portfolio. It consisted of an "I believe" speech (where you write about something that you are very passionate about and you have research to back up your topic), a multimodal autobiography or a presentation about your life with pictures, copy, and music, a resume, a letter of thanks, a letter of acceptance/military commitment/work intent, a core memory creative writing assignment, three interview questions, and students dressed to impress by wearing business casual attire.
Senior Nickolas Capperelli had been working on his portfolio. So far out of all of his work that he had to do, the presentation was his favorite piece of work to work on. “My favorite part about the portfolio is showing people baby pictures of me growing up in the presentation,” said Capperelli. For the "I believe" essay, Capperelli chose a topic that isn’t talked about enough or it is looked over. “I think I chose a topic that everyone deserves to create a life to create a life for themselves in the U.S. without judgement because I don’t think people realize how hard it is for people to come to America seeking a better life based on where they came from,” said Capperelli
When asked about their favorite part of the portfolio, almost everyone said the autobiography just because they were able to personalize it and be very creative. Senior Sarah Weems' favorite part was the autobiography. “My favorite item was probably the multimodal autobiography because I could go through all my pictures and decorate it all cute,” said Weems. As everyone got older they kind of let go of the things that our parents told us when we were younger. The simple things like treating people how we wanted to treated. “I wrote my this i believe essay on treating other the way you want to be treated and i think this is really important to talk about because we grow up getting told this but lately i feel like it’s being lost in the world and there’s so much drama going on because people can’t just be nice and that causes others to not be nice to them,” said Weems.
