Elective Spotlight: Web Design by Antonio Rivera

After a semester of learning the ins and outs of web design, the students in the WordPress class have officially wrapped up their course. From customizing themes to organizing content and navigating plugins, the class tackled it all with creativity and curiosity. The goal? To leave each student with a working knowledge of how to build and manage a website using one of the internet’s most popular tools.

Junior Camila Santiago was one of the students who completed the course. “I liked WordPress,” she said when asked about her experience. “WordPress is an open-source content system that allows users to easily create and manage websites, including blogs, business sites, and online stores.” While many students came into the class with little to no experience, Camila explained that the course “wasn’t hard at all for those who actually try.”

Although Camila doesn’t plan to use WordPress in her own future, she recognizes its value. “Personally, I’m not interested in using it in the future, but it’s always a great skill to have in case I need it eventually,” she shared. Whether students go on to build personal blogs or professional portfolios, the WordPress class left them with the tools to bring ideas to life online—no coding required.
