Student Plan for Prom Season by Emani Morgne
Planning for prom can be exciting but a bit overwhelming. Junior Maya Coney was buzzing with excitement as she began planning for prom. “What am I most excited about prom for? I'd have to say, dressing up in a pretty dress and getting to spend time around my friends,” she shared, she became excited at just the thought. She spent hours scrolling through Pinterest, gathering inspiration for the perfect dress. “I'm planning my outfit by looking at inspiration on different platforms like Pinterest to come up with a dress I'll enjoy wearing on prom night,” she explained, envisioning how stunning she would look on that special night.
As the big day approached, Coney made arrangements for getting ready. “I'm getting ready partly at my house and then I'll be going over to a friend's house later on to finish getting ready,” she said, already imagining the fun they would have. She had decided to go with a date and some friends, keeping it low-key. “I'll be going with a date and some friends, nothing crazy,” she added. Her hopes for the night were simple yet clear: “My expectations for the night is just to have fun and enjoy being on the dance floor honestly.”
The prom theme had also caught her attention. “I actually really like the prom theme, I think it's a really fun idea and I can't wait to see everyone's interpretation of the theme,” she remarked, looking forward to seeing how everyone would express their creativity. The most magical part of the planning process for her was finding the perfect dress and heels. “Definitely finding a dress and heels, I know it seems super basic, but I think it's just so magical putting a really pretty dress and some nice heels together to make an outfit,” she said. As for pre-prom traditions, she was eager for fun moments with friends. “The only pre-prom tradition I'm looking forward to is definitely getting dressed with friends and listening to music while we do our hair,” she concluded, ready to make unforgettable memories.
