Underclassmen Complete the PM3 ELA FAST Test by Renna Petrides

Last week, all freshmen and sophomores took the PM 3 ELA Fast exam. The underclassmen take three of these exams throughout the school year to monitor how they are doing. The first one they take around the first week of school, the second one they take right after winter break, and the third one they take during the last month of school. This exam tracks their progress and provides test scores to see how much they learned throughout the school year.

Freshmen Kinley Cardinal and sophomore Ali Myers are two students that took the PM 3 ELA Fast. For this test, some students like to study for it while others choose not to. Cardinal was one of the students who did not study for it. “I did not do much to prepare for the test. I just went and hoped for the best,” said Cardinal. Myers, on the other hand, did study to prepare for the test. “To prepare for the test, I just did a lot of reading comprehension packets in my English class and tried to read a bunch of books so that I can get more familiar with understanding longer stories,” said Myers. To study, or not to study, just depends on the student and how comfortable they feel going into the test.

One of the biggest questions asked about the test is how hard it will be. Both girls agreed that the test was not super easy, but also not super hard. “I would say the test wasn’t that hard. It was just long, and some of the passages were a bit more confusing to understand,” said Myers. On a similar note, Cardinal mentioned that “I do not believe it was crazy hard, but it was not the easiest test I have ever taken,” said Cardinal. The difficulty of the test largely depends on the student and how they perform as a test-taker.
