Mel-High Gets a New Teacher: Ms. Lopez by Issy Perez

Melbourne High School welcomed Ms. Irene Lopez as its new Geometry teacher for the 2025–2026 academic year. She brought eighteen years of teaching experience to the role, marking her nineteenth year in education. Ms. Lopez expressed hope for a positive academic experience for both herself and her students. She looked forward to contributing to a productive learning environment and building strong connections in the classroom. 

Ms. Lopez came from El Paso, Texas, where she had previously taught at a local high school. She was also an alumna of the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), home of the Longhorns. Upon relocating to Brevard County, she familiarized herself with Brevard programs designed to support student learning. “That I’m very glad to work here at Mel-High and that this year goes great for me and my students,” stated Ms. Lopez, and “I’m learning all the platforms that they have here in Brevard,” also quoting from Ms. Lopez. She was glad to be working at Melbourne High School and hoped the school year would go well for everyone involved. 

Ms. Lopez’s transition to Melbourne High School marked a new chapter in her teaching career. With nearly two decades of experience, she brought a wealth of knowledge and instructional expertise to the classroom. Her commitment to adapting to new educational tools demonstrated a proactive approach to meeting the needs of her students. Her arrival reflected Melbourne High School’s continued dedication to fostering a strong academic environment.
