Marvell Cunningham, a sophomore, is a standout athlete at Melbourne high School. Recently, he earned his spot on the varsity football team marking a major milestone in his athletic journey. For Cunningham, the experience has been both exciting and challenging as he adjusts to the fast pace and higher expectations of varsity level play , Cunningham said, “It feels amazing to finally be competing at this level."

Since joining the varsity roster, Cunningham has been adjusting to the faster pace and higher-level competition. Balancing classes training and game days has tested his discipline, but Cunningham continued to rise to the challenge. “Being on varsity is a challenge and it is a responsibility," he said, “you have to stay strong and keep your head up, keep your grades up and give your 100 percent every day." 

As the bulldogs continue their season, Cunningham hopes to make a lasting impact on the team and inspire younger players who look up to him. He credits his teammates and coaches for helping him grow as both an athlete and a person. He said, “[It] is about teamwork, pride, and representing Melbourne High the right way ."
