Day In The Life Of A Weight Training Teacher by Miyah Evans

Mornings at Melbourne High started early for Ms. Dabrowski, the school’s dedicated weight training teacher. Before most students arrived, she rolled up the shutters, checked equipment, and planned the day’s workouts. The air smelled faintly of rubber mats and determination as she arranged barbells and set out cones for warm-ups. With a background in exercise science and coaching, she understood that training tested the mind as much as the body.

Although Melbourne High thrived on academic achievement, Ms. Dabrowski believed the gym offered lessons the classroom could not—discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Throughout the morning, she guided students through warm-ups, demonstrated proper form, and offered encouragement when challenges arose. When students lacked motivation, she said, “I gave my students positive reinforcement.” Her message resonated with many. “Ms. Dabrowski motivated students to care for themselves more,” said junior Julian Baxter. “She pushed us to show up and give our best every day.”

By midday, Ms. Dabrowski reviewed training logs, adjusted workout programs, and discussed nutrition and recovery with her students. In the afternoon, she supervised open gym sessions, coached athletic teams, and celebrated every small victory. Even after the final bell, she stayed to tidy the gym and prepare for the next day. Her commitment extended far beyond weights and workouts—it strengthened the hearts and habits of everyone she taught.

Building Confidence One Rep At A Time. Before most students arrived at Melbourne High, Ms. Dabrowski was already in the gym—rolling up shutters, setting out barbells, and planning workouts. With her background in exercise science, she understood that training was as much mental as physical. She believed the gym was where students learned discipline, teamwork, and confidence—lessons that reached far beyond the classroom. Calm yet motivating, she guided students to push past limits and believe in themselves. “I start my mornings off by running and exercising,” she said, setting the example of dedication she hoped to inspire in every student."
