Tammy Johnson Steps Into New Role as Melbourne High’s Secretary by Brooke Johnson

Melbourne High School has a new friendly face in the front office — Mrs. Tammy Johnson! She’s the new school secretary and is already working hard to make sure everything runs smoothly. Before this job, she was the school’s bookkeeper, so she already knew a lot about how things work around campus.

Johnson said she was picked for the job because of her past experience. “I was chosen because as the bookkeeper, I was the back-up for the secretary. I was also the secretary at the previous school I worked at. I already knew how to do payroll and coordinate the substitutes,” she explained. That experience made her ready to take on her new role right away.

Even though she loves her new job, Johnson said there are still a few challenges. “The hardest part about my new position is not knowing all of the answers when teachers and staff ask me questions about HR issues,” she said. “I am always able to get the answer for them, but I don’t always know the answer off the top of my head. I know it will come with time.”

Johnson is excited to keep learning and helping everyone at MHS. With her positive attitude and determination, she’s sure to do great things as the new secretary!
