Dreaming of Homecoming by Lily Majors
Melbourne High junior Joli Bartczack came to school ready to relax for Pajama Day, wearing her comfy PJs she got from Buc-ee’s in Daytona Beach. Usually, she doesn’t dress up for Spirit Week, but this year she decided to join in with her friends. “My friends and I decided to do it together,” Bartczack said. “It makes the school day more fun and enjoyable.”
Bartczack said she’s especially looking forward to “Anything But a Backpack Day.” “It’s going to be funny and creative,” says Bartczack. Even though she went out of town for the Homecoming game, she’s excited for the dance itself, and her plans after it. “My friends and I are getting ready together and having a sleepover after,” she says. “My dress is pink and sparkly.”
Looking back on Pajama Day, Bartczack says she loves seeing everyone’s different ideas and energy. If she could add her own theme day, it would be “White Lies or Dress Up as Your Type.” “It would be really creative and fun to see what people would wear,” she said. Her advice for anyone who didn’t participate? “Life is short, don’t boring, have fun.”
