Singing Live by Issy Perez

Melbourne High School’s senior chorus students performed live at Station LiteRock 99.3, iHeartRadio, on Friday, November 7th. Their appearance spanned 4th through 6th periods, during which they sang a curated selection of Christmas carols. The broadcast gave listeners a chance to hear the senior students in a professional studio setting, highlighting the students’ preparation and musical discipline. Chorus teacher, Ms. Natalie Taylor joined her students to sing Christmas carols at the station.

Ms. Taylor guided her students through their performance of Christmas carols, and together they recorded the songs to be played when the Christmas station went live. This was the second year the Chamber Choir took part. Ms. Taylor said, “We were asked to last year and we had such a great time that I asked if we could do it again. The cool thing too is the two main people at the radio station are MHS alums” The students joined wholeheartedly and appreciated being part of something that reached the wider community.

The performance at Station LiteRock 99.3 highlighted the talent and discipline of Melbourne High School’s senior chorus. The students shared their music beyond the school walls and reached a wider audience. Their participation carried forward a tradition that had begun the previous year. The event demonstrated how the chorus engaged with the community through music.
