Art Show At The Mall by Samiyah Evans
Artwork created by Melbourne High School students was showcased at the Melbourne Mall during a student art show held in January. The event gave students and community members a chance to explore student creativity outside of school. Many students attended to support their peers, chat with classmates, and learn more about the different styles of artwork. Visitors were able to see a variety of techniques, from painting to mixed media, which highlighted the effort students put into their work. The public setting made the experience feel exciting and encouraged conversations about creativity and artistic expression.
Freshman Maddy Hill attended the show and said the experience was inspiring. “Seeing everyone’s art all together was really cool,” Hill said. She explained that walking around the exhibit helped her notice details she hadn’t thought about before. “It showed me how much effort and imagination students put into their work,” Hill said. Hill also said that events like this make art feel more important. “It’s nice to see student creativity being recognized and appreciated,” she added. She mentioned that seeing other students’ ideas sparked new ideas for her own projects.
Freshman Stevie Ronan also attended the exhibit and enjoyed seeing student artwork in a public space. “It was different than seeing art at school,” Stevie Ronan said. Stevie Ronan said that the mall setting made the show feel more official and exciting. “It made me realize that student art can stand out and get noticed by lots of people,” Stevie Ronan said. She also mentioned that the event encouraged her to try new things in her own creative work. “I feel motivated to experiment more and see what I can create next,” she added.
