Robotics Orlando Regionals by Melissa Lima Amaro
Team Voltage competed at the Orlando Regionals with determination and strong team spirit throughout the entire event. The team prepared extensively for both qualification matches and any unexpected challenges. “One of our alliance teams robot stoped working mid game and while we freaked out at first, they fixed it by the time we got to semi-finals,” Manuel Castillo, a one of Voltage’s new member said. During the competition, members collaborated closely to troubleshoot issues and Improve performance between matches. Their hard work and persistence allowed them to stay focused and competitive in a fast-paced environment. “We were kinda nervous at first during qualification, but i think we did pretty well,” Sophie Yang, also a new team member, said.
Throughout the matches, Team Voltage demonstarted consistent improvement and adaptability. The drive team communicated effectively, making quick decisions that helped maximalize their scoring potential. “I’m very proud of our drive team, it is so stressful control the robots for the matches, and yet they got us to semi-finals,” Castillo said. Meanwhile, the pit crew worked tirelessly behind the scenes, making adjustments and repairs to keep the robot performing at it’s best. “The pit team was always busy with the robot, so they didn’t really get to experience going to other pits to get pins or stickers, but i still think they had a lot of fun,” Castillo said. Their ability to stay calm under pressure played a key role in overcoming obstacles during the competition.
Beyond the matches, Team Voltage engaged with others teams, building connections and sharing knowledge. “While the pit crew are really important and played a huge part to us getting to semi-finals, I also think others student’s also played a part by scouting and doing impact,” Yang said. The team embraced the spirit of gracious professionalism by helping others and celebrating everyone’s achievements. They also took time to reflect on their performance, identifying areas for growth and future improvement. Overall, the Orlando Regionals served as a valuable experience that strengthened both their technical skills and teamwork. “I think the Orlando regionals made us come closer as a team”, Yang said.
