2D Art Students' Perspective on the Latest Art Project by Matthew Trazzera
In 2D art with Mrs. Carolyn Robb, students recently made animal drawings using colored pencils and oil pastels. 9th grader Rowan Gugenheim drew a fox and said she picked it “because it has bright colors I can work with,” 9th grade student Lilly Wall drew a parrot and said she chose it “because I personally love parrots and i love the colors on it,” Both students used different art tools but worked hard to make their drawings look great.
Gugenheim used colored pencils and started with “a light sketch so if I messed up I could go back easily,” She also explained “I added light colors first, then added in my darker colors to the eyes and mouth,” Guggenheim shared that the hardest part for her was drawing the eyes, “trying to get the eyes detailed was so difficult, but i tried my best,” She said. Guggenheim worked carefully to make the fox look as real as possible, but incorporating unrealistic colors as her teacher told her to do.
Wall used oil pastels and started with a outline in pencil, drawing a black panther. “I added colors in layers and tried blending the oil pastels together,” Wall also explained that “The hardest part was trying not to smudge or mix colors that look bad together,” Walls drawing took her 1 and a half weeks. Both students had different drawing techniques but each are unique in their own way.

Wall explained to her friends that she believed she could have gotten more time. “I liked this project a lot, but I think I could have done much better with extra time,” Wall said.
