Students gathered at Melbourne High School on Wednesday night for the annual Powderpuff Game, where the junior class defeated the seniors 32-6. This event brought together players, coaches, cheerleaders and school administrators who spent time preparing for the game through practice and teamwork. Students and coaches focused on learning techniques, communication skills, and creating a fun environment for the game upon kickoff. 

Junior player Aubrey Smith describes the preparation process for PowderPuff stating, “We prepared by practicing different techniques to help us win against the Seniors”. Smith also explained her interest in the event, stating “ I decided to join PowderPuff because I thought it would be fun”. Smith credited her decision to join PowderPuff because, “My best friend Ali convinced me to join because we wanted to do it together”. Junior Ella Camerci supported the event as a cheer coach. Camerci explained her role by stating,” I helped prepare cheers and stunts for the game”. Camerci connected her involvement of being a cheer coach to her background explaining, “I love cheer and I'm currently on the MHS Varsity cheer team”. Camerci explained her inspiration of joining PowderPuff from” Mrs Friday inspired me”. Reflecting on the PowderPuff Game, Camerci explained her experience, “It was really fun and exciting to be part of the PowderPuff and get to see the boys learn and try new cheers and stunts”. Also, Smith explained her experience playing in the PowderPuff Game as, “It was so much fun and had so much fun learning from our coaches and teammates”. 

The PowderPuff game brought together students from different grades allowing them to collaborate and participate in an annual school event. The Powderpuff game highlighted student involvement and school spirit at Melbourne High School. The junior class secured a 32-6 win , but the game provided an opportunity for students to represent their school spirit. From on-field performance and sideline support, students and administrators created an event that brought the whole school community together.
