Here at Melbourne High School, students take preparation to the next level in after school tutoring. After putting in a strong effort, they can finally feel prepared for testing. This is especially true for 11th grade student, Neveah Colon.

Students who have invested their time in practicing a topic to better their skill, will likely be the ones to see a difference in test results. In building 8, room 849, Mrs. Conlon leads the tutoring session. Mrs. Conlon said, “Students who were looking to gain a better understanding of something often found the help they need there, on Mondays through Thursdays”. Many students spent two weeks at after school tutoring, preparing for the test on April 22nd. Mrs. Conlon said, “Students who attended were given formulas, and the tools needed in order for them to feel confident on testing day.”

Though some students like Colon, weren’t able to attend every day to work on their skills, they were given packets to practice. Colon said, “I was determined to pass this test, so I put in a lot of effort.” “I wasn’t able to show up everyday, so I made sure to stud hard at the tools I was given.” On April 22nd students took either an English/reading, or math test, as a high school graduation requirement. Colon said, “My dedication and hard work really paid off for me, as I was able to pass.” This after school opportunity has given students the chance to feel confident in a topic they typically struggle with. Mrs. Conlon said, “Watching students put their best foot forward was wonderful, I was so proud of those who’s hardwork paid off.”
