9th grader Aliana Alvarado, said most of her preparation for the english FAST writing test happened during class time. She explained that she practiced writing paragraphs, reviewed old assignments, and worked on organizing her ideas while in class. “We did a lot of writing practice in class, so that helped me feel ready,” She said. Her teacher’s feedback helped her improve, especially with coming up with ideas faster. Alvarado added that “even though I get nervous during state tests I try my best to stay focused and not stress as much,” Alvarado also explained “I think I stress so much because I usually don't do the best on these tests,”
Samara Issersohn, also in 9th grade, said that most of her preparation was done in class. She practiced multiple choice practice test and focused on organizing her thoughts during class activities. “I didn’t really study much at home because i'm usually tired. With help from her friends in class Issersohn feels very comfortable and explained, “I’m going to stay calm about this test and not going to stress about it at all.” Issersohn also shared that “I usually do good on these tests so I’m not so worried about it,”
Both students agreed that doing most of their preparation in class helped them feel ready for the FAST test. Aliana used the time to build confidence and improve her skills, while Samara kept things simple and did not put too much stress on herself. Their preparation shows that paying attention and practicing during class can be enough to prepare for an important test like this.
