District Communication Tools
Communication Tools
Our district employs many methods to communicate with our students, staff, and families.
Focus Communication
Our rapid notification system is used to communicate with families during an emergency situation or for informational outreach. This system allows the school or district to contact parents or staff with timely information via phone call, email, text message, or push notification if you've downloaded our mobile app.
If you are receiving these notifications in error, please contact the district for assistance at 321-633-1000.
Peachjar
Our district has launched a new electronic flyer communication tool called “Peachjar.”
This “green” initiative is saving our schools tons of paper and reduces copy costs by thousands of dollars. On top of that, posting school flyers in this electronic backpack removes a significant administrative burden from teachers, office staff, and volunteers.
No action is required on your part.
Parents will receive a welcome email from Peachjar that includes a username and password. This is provided to give you the opportunity to manage your account and flyer delivery preferences. You do not need to login to receive or view school eflyers.
To view school-approved eflyers, simply click the Peachjar button on the school’s website or the Peachjar button in your BPS mobile app.
This system is used exclusively for distribution of school-approved flyers. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose. Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure parents are well informed about school programs, activities, and events

Communication Guide & Stylebook
Communication is vital throughout Brevard Public Schools. With more than 9,000 employees, our messages to our stakeholders, internal and external, should be accurate and timely. It is important that we communicate effectively in a style that is consistent across the district that sets a standard for our organization.
We are introducing two documents to our schools, the updated stylebook and the communication guide. The stylebook includes guidelines and expectations for communication among district employees and with the public and should be your guide to the Brevard Public Schools brand. The communication guide is intended to outline our communication protocols throughout the district. It defines our norms and commitments, outlines expectations for horizontal and vertical communication, and provides examples for school and district employees.
If you would like a copy of either document, please contact Printing Services.
2022-2023 Communications Plan
This annual plan outlines responsibilities and expectations for communications with Government & Community Relations. It is designed to be a living document that is adjusted as needed. The communications plan focuses on the main areas of interaction with stakeholders, to include internal and external communications, crisis communications, and public relations communications.
Flyer Distribution
Flyer Distribution for Non-Profits
Our district cooperates with approved non-profit ONLY community partners by posting eflyers online and distributing them electronically through our service provider, Peachjar. As part of our efforts to be more environmentally friendly, embrace innovative technology and maintain fiscal responsibility, we have transitioned from paper to electronic flyer delivery.
Guidelines
District distribution through Peachjar is ONLY permitted for non-profit organizations. It is the position of the Board that parent initiated student clubs and non-profit community organizations shall be permitted to distribute written materials that are age appropriate to students that attend the school.
Non-Profit Status: Non-profit community organizations must provide documentation verifying non-profit status. This documentation must either be a copy of the letter from the Internal Revenue Service stating the organization is considered tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) or a copy of a notarized letter on the organization’s letterhead stating the organization is a non-profit organization as deemed by the Internal Revenue Service. Any entity that is found to have misrepresented themselves as a non-profit entity will forever be barred from all future material distribution.
Specifics: Parent initiated student clubs and non-profit community organizations requesting to distribute or post written materials that publicize a specific community event, activity, or meeting shall submit their flyer via Peachjar. The material must contain the following:
Name of the sponsoring organization (must be the same name as the non-profit organization’s tax ID being used).
The written material must provide information about the specific community activity/event or meeting, including, but not limited to, the nature of the meeting/event/activity, location, day and time.
Uploaded flyers will automatically prepopulate with the district’s disclaimer. “These materials are neither sponsored by nor endorsed by the District, its agents, or its employees. The views and the information contained in the materials are not an expression of the opinion, belief, or policy of the Board, the District and/or this school.”
Parent initiated student clubs and non-profit community organizations whose materials do not comply with the above will not be permitted to distribute unless the materials can be corrected by the parent initiated student club or non-profit community organization and returned reuploaded for approval at least two (2) days prior to the distribution date.
Prohibited Material: In all cases, distribution of the following is not permitted
Material that is insulting to or violates the rights of others, including but not limited to material that is libelous, invades the privacy of others, infringes on a copyright or is in any way prohibited by State or Federal law. This includes so-called “hate” literature that scurrilously attacks an individual’s race, age, national origin, gender, gender orientation, religion, creed, disability, economic status or advocates interference with the rights of any individual.
Material that is socially inappropriate or inappropriate due to the maturity level of the students, including, but no limited to, material that is obscene, pornographic or lewd, vulgar or indecent, or is insulting to any group or individual.
Material that may incite (lead) persons to commit illegal acts, violate Board policy, promotes hostility, disorder or violence.
Material that is primarily of a commercial nature, including, but not limited to, material that primarily seeks to advertise for sale or rent the products or services of outside businesses unless the material itself has educational value that makes the commercial message a secondary consideration. Materials of this nature shall be subject to the conditions set forth for advertising in Policy 9702.
Material that is likely to cause substantial disruption to or materially interferes with the proper and orderly operation and discipline of the school or school activities.
Material which in any way promotes, favors or opposes the candidacy of any candidate for election or any public questions submitted at any general, municipal or school election. The prohibition shall not apply on any Election Day or special election when the school is being used a polling place.
