Heritage HS Students

Brevard Public Schools is proud to introduce a dynamic newElectricity Program at Heritage High School, designed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the electrical and energy sectors. This Career and Technical Education (CTE) initiative is more than a course—it’s a launchpad for students to enter high-wage, high-demand careers with real-world skills and industry-recognized credentials.

The program offers hands-on training in residential and commercial wiring, circuits, safety protocols, blueprint reading, and the use of meters and test equipment. As students progress, they’ll explore advanced topics such as motors and motor controls, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) fundamentals, renewable and solar energy systems, and troubleshooting techniques.

What sets this program apart is its alignment with industry standards and workforce needs. Students will earn certifications that employers value, including:

  • NCCER Core: Foundational safety, tools, and employability skills

  • NCCER Electrical Level One: With the opportunity to advance through Levels Two, Three, and Four

  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Credential: A nationally recognized safety certification

Beyond the classroom, the program is actively building bridges to the workforce. Throughwork-based learning,pre-apprenticeship pathways, andlocal industry partnerships—including a collaboration withBoys Electric—students will gain access to internships and job opportunities that connect education directly to employment.

“The launch of the Electricity Program at Heritage High School reflects our commitment to preparing students for real-world success,” saidDr. Mark Rendell, Superintendent of Brevard Public Schools. “By combining rigorous instruction with industry-recognized certifications and hands-on experience, we’re opening doors to high-wage, high-demand careers and helping build the future workforce of Brevard County.”
