Educational Impact Fees

Educational impact fees are imposed, collected, and administered by Brevard County for new residential housing and allocated to the district based on a pre-calculated percentage of the cost to add a student station (seat). These funds must be used for new schools or classroom additions in the benefit district in which they were collected. Brevard Public Schools has two impact fee benefit districts: North and South areas of the County.

Each quarter, an Educational Impact Fee Benefit District Advisory Committee comprised of municipal and County representatives, votes to recommend how the impact fees will be allocated for future projects. Once these recommendations are approved by the School Board, a formal request is made to the County Commissioners to approve the allocation.

Some of the recent or current projects are illustrated below. Visit the Educational Impact Fees Document folder for a copy of the Amended Interlocal Agreement Between Brevard County, Florida and The School Board of Brevard County, Florida providing for the funding of new or expanded public educational facilities with educational facilities impact fees and a map of the Impact Fee Districts.
